Happy Thanksgiving!

Just finished making a couple of chess pies (mmm…yummy—they’re a Southern tradition), and have been desperately trying to get some rolls to rise all morning. And while I’ve been “slaving away” in the kitchen, my dearest husband has been coming along behind me picking up my messes! I make lots of them when I’m cooking. Try as I might, it seems unavoidable.

I hope all of you are having a great day with family and friends. We’re going over to some friends’ house this afternoon to feast and fellowship together, as we both are “familyless.” Last year, though, Jay and I pulled off the greatest surprise for his mother when we showed up unexpectedly at his parent’s house in Texas. It was awesome. She had absolutely no idea we were coming, and we were actually talking with her on the phone as we walked through the door. This year is much more low key!

So, a very happy thanksgiving, and enjoy getting up early to shop tomorrow–if that’s your thing. It’s definitely not mine.
