Rainy Day Engagement Photos| Sarah and Zach

All last week I kept checking the forecast hoping that the rain they were predicting would hold off on Saturday for Sarah and Zach’s engagement session. Since they were driving into Pittsburgh from Virginia, I knew it wasn’t something we could just reschedule. Well, the rain decided to come anyway, but fortunately Sarah and Zach were totally awesome about it and just went with the flow (literally!).

We started off the (soggy) morning at Hartwood Acres, and then as the rain began to clear up, we headed over to Sarah’s old barn where we borrowed a horse named Howie and had a lot of fun taking photos in a field. Sarah’s a girl after my own heart with her love for horses, so I was totally pumped when she suggested the idea of taking some photos with a horse. Zach thankfully agreed to join the fun, though he’s not quite so passionate about the four-legged critters as Sarah is.

Although Sarah and Zach met in high school, it wasn’t until they were in college that they began to date (Sarah just wouldn’t give Zach the time of day!). Fast forward a few years, and Zach surprised Sarah with his proposal–and she said yes. They’re getting married this July and will be celebrating their wedding at the Twelve Oaks Mansion in Mars, PA.

Sarah wanted to incorporate her English heritage in the photos, and I thought Hartwood Acres was the perfect place with its Tudor style.

You can see the rain falling in the photo on the right if you look closely.

On our way to the stable we stopped by the Strip District, thinking we’d need to find some more covered places. But then, of course, the rain let up.

Sarah–you’re beautiful.

Ha, I love this photo…I think the sign really makes it for me.

I learned first hand that taking engagement photos with a horse isn’t easy, especially with one that just wants to eat a lot of grass!

Success! Howie’s finally looking up and looking pretty for us!
