Pandora Listening | Photo Editing

While the life of a wedding photographer may seem glamorous (ha!)–getting to go to fancy weddings every weekend, taking pictures of pretty people and things–it’s not all fun and games. After the cake is eaten, the guests have gone home, and the tuxes have been returned, I’m still working on editing photos. While the kind of editing I prefer to do on my photos is clean and simple, it still takes a lot of time to sort through and carefully edit the photos to be print and web ready.

A constant companion to this work, beside Astin sleeping on the chair, is music. Hours of sitting in front of computer screen punching a keyboard and clicking a mouse (no, I don’t have one of those cool tablet things) would be quite boring without some tunes to keep me going. Hence, I’m often reaching my quota of Pandora hours by the end of each month (40 hours). If you haven’t heard of Pandora–what rock have you been living under? It’s an online music station that let’s you create stations around the bands or genres of music you enjoy. While you don’t choose each song that plays, you can skip ones you don’t like. I actually prefer not having to think about each song I want to hear next. And, I’ve discovered several new favorite bands/musicians that I might not have without it.

My current station? Bon Iver.

OK, now back to editing!

Kateri - I like to use Pandora in conjunction with Grooveshark. If you’re not familiar with GS, it lets you pick particular songs/artists/albums and create custom playlists that you can access online from anywhere with no downloads.

When I find songs I love on Pandora, I add them to a Grooveshark playlist so when my Pandora hours run out I have a lengthy playlist of only songs I love! 🙂

Steve Hayward - I’ve been wanting to try out Pandora recently, especially having just recieved an iPad. But its not available in Canada! Boo!

Mark - Why Lightroom for Raw photos, is it faster that ACR? I know the the whloe catalog thing in LR. I just got LR3 and besides burning the memory up, what are the benefits.

Karey - I love Pandora too, and I recently heard that http://www.last.fm is even better, but I haven’t put it to the test yet. Let me know if you do!
