Sometimes I don’t actually get to meet my couples until we do their engagement session, as a lot of brides and grooms plan their Pittsburgh weddings from out of state. This was the case with Laura and James. Although Laura and James both grew up in the Maryland area, James has a lot of family here in Pittsburgh, and they decided to get married up here on one of the family properties next June.
Laura and James actually met through Laura’s mom. Laura was student teaching at a local Christian school where her mom also worked, while James was doing side maintenance jobs at the same school. James got to know Laura’s mom, and through her, met Laura. They both share a love for service and God, and when Laura returned from working on mission trip to Ecuador one summer, James proposed.
For their engagement session, we decided to start in North Park, a place of fond memories for James on trips to visit family in Pittsburgh. Later, we went downtown for a few photos around Pittsburgh. I really enjoyed getting to meet and spend time with them both, and I’m looking forward to their wedding next summer at Heinz Chapel!
I finally got to see how the waterfalls are supposed to look at the convention center. Definitely worth seeing!
Yes, Laura is indeed a Raven’s fan, while James is (of course) a Steeler’s fan. So we had to have a little fun with this…I think James is trying to give an intimidating look here.
