Pittsburgh Wedding Venue Reviews | Omni William Penn Hotel

It’s been a while since I last showcased a favorite wedding venue here in Pittsburgh. My list of wedding venue reviews is far too short! Pittsburgh has a lot of great wedding venues and options for couples, so be looking for more of these reviews from me. Today I want to review the Omni William Penn Hotel as a wedding venue.

If you’re looking for a polished and sophisticated venue for your Pittsburgh wedding, the Omni William Penn may be your place. It offers several unique rooms for your event, including a breathtaking ballroom complete with ornate gold details and incredible chandeliers. Adjacent to the main ballroom is the art deco inspired Urban Room with impressive black glass walls and an eye-catching ceiling mural. While the hotel’s website describes the Urban Room as an “intimate” location, I wouldn’t recommend it to someone who is truly looking for an intimate reception room. While it is smaller and the feel is completely different than the more classic Grand Ballroom, the high ceilings and dark walls of the Urban Room don’t exactly convey “intimate.”

But that’s just fine. I actually like the impressive and unique feel of the Urban Room, as well as the classic beauty of the Grand Ballroom. For examples, Evonne and Bob held their reception in the Urban Room, while Caitlin and Derick had theirs in the Grand Ballroom.

Some other great features of the Omni William Penn Hotel are its location downtown and its incredible decor. If you want to be in the heart of Pittsburgh for your wedding, the Omni William Penn certainly gets you there. And if you’re worried about rain and getting great photos, the lobby and surrounding halls of the Omni provide ample indoor backup locations for great pictures.

Additionally, the Omni William Penn has several other rooms available for rent, so you can easily have your ceremony in one room followed by a cocktail hour in another, and finally finishing your reception in another room. If you’re wanting to keep everything simple and in one location for your guests, the Omni William Penn can certainly make that happen.

And of course, one of the most important features of any venue is good customer service. Every time I’ve photographed a wedding at the Omni William Penn Hotel, I’ve been impressed with their great organization and pleasant customer service–just what you would expect from a classy venue.

So if you’re looking for a sophisticated and romantic wedding venue in Pittsburgh, definitely check out the Omni William Penn Hotel.

I loved how they decorated for the holidays in the Grand Ballroom.

Caitlin and Derick held their cocktail hour in the Urban Room before enjoying a great reception in the Grand Ballroom.

I love the wrap-around balcony in the Grand Ballroom. It offers a great view of the action and gives your guests something to admire.

Evonne and Bob opted to have their ceremony in one of the Omni’s smaller rooms.

And although we had great weather for their day, we also took advantage of the decor of the Omni’s lobby.

Their fun reception was held in the Urban Room.

Nick - Howdy Mary! Hope Hawaii was awesome.

I read your blog daily, and referring to 4th and last picture, I see you using remote flashes in a lot of your reception shots. (Really cool effect, btw).

Are you using Canon speedlights with infrared controller on your 500 series flash? Or are you triggering with a PocketWizard etc.? I’d love a blog post on your strategies for remote flash placement and triggering.

Thanks,
N
