Morning Walk in Frick Park | Faces and Places of Pittsburgh

With the sad realization that my time in Pittsburgh is coming to an end, I’ve decided to start taking photos of all the places and people that remind me of Pittsburgh. While I daresay I’ve been to more places around this town than folks who have lived here their whole lives, I have also been lazy about taking photos. I guess I just supposed I’d bring my camera next time I went to a place…only to inevitably “forget” it again. Now’s the time to remedy that.

So I’m starting this Pittsburgh photo series with a place I visit at least once a week, sometimes more: Frick Park. It’s one of my earliest memories of Pittsburgh (Jay and I took a walk in it while we were visiting before we moved here), and I have continued to enjoy its trails and woods these past five years. You can probably guess who also really enjoys walks in Frick Park–Astin. Leaping, running, and splashing about never gets old to him.

This morning I decided to get up before the sunrise and go walking in Frick with Astin, taking my camera with me. Here are just a few photos of one of my favorite places in Pittsburgh.

Nicole - How funny, I was googling weddings at Frick and found your pictures, as I looked through them, I found a pic of myself and my golden retriever, apparently out for the same morning walk as you!!!! We love spending time at Frick Park! Beautiful photographs!

NatalIe - Love these! Rooney is jealous! 🙂

Caryn - Beautiful series, Mary! I have yet to set foot in Frick Park, but I now just may 🙂

Jenny - What a great idea. What a gorgeous day for a morning walk. Love the last photo.

Katia - Mary!how gorgeous!!Astin is such a cute doggie…I love the image of the drops on the grass!!so serene!

Emilie - I love that first picture. There must be something about Frick Park and split-rail fenses I like, I have a picture of a split-rail fense taken at Frick in my kitchen and it’s my favorite photograph of all time. I’m glad you’re doing this album, not only to remind yourself of how cool Pittsburgh is but also remind all of us how we need to get out and experience it more.
