Not Very Funny…but Pretty

There’s been a few times in my life when I’ve tried to pull off practical jokes. I remember as a young child trying to stage my untimely death with my sister’s help for my poor mother to discover. Somehow the ketchup wasn’t very convincing, and Mom didn’t find it humorous. Really, what kind of sick child does that? We must have been super bored that day. I’ve had a few successes with other jokes over the years, but the ones that give me the most satisfaction are the ones I play on Jay.

You see, Jay is the king of practical jokes in his family. He’s been cooking them up and meting them out on his family for years now. Even I’ve, sadly, been coerced into helping him on a few of them. He even attempts to fool me from time to time, but he is not nearly so successful. I mean, I was the kid who tried to fake my own death as a joke for my mom. Needless to say though, Jay is about as far from gullible as they come.

Which is why it is all the more satisfying to pull one over on him. So this April Fool’s Day I’ve kept to smaller jokes and have had a few successes. Believe me, even little jokes are big victories in this house. But I’m not nearly so witty or funny elsewhere. I didn’t come up with anything funny for this blog, for instance. Instead, I’ve just got a pretty panoramic view of downtown Pittsburgh. Remember when we had that full moon a couple of weeks ago? Well, we were near the North Shore that evening, so I decided to take a few photos. Here’s a quick panoramic stitch of them.

Happy April Fool’s Day!

Karey - Wow – I thought I was the only sick child in the world! I once had my little brother lay down on the driveway, and then I ran into the house screaming, “Matt got hit by a car!” And then Mom and I ran out of the house frantically and Matt jumped up and we screamed, “April Fools!” We thought we were so funny! If only I had thought of ketchup… 🙂

marfa - What were the jokes you pulled on Jay??? I’m dying to know.
