The Biggest Wedding I’ve Ever Attended | Royal Wedding Mayhem

Home again, home again, jiggety jig… I love traveling, but I also love coming home. There’s nothing like the familiarities and comforts of your own place that put the the fanciest of hotels to shame (not that I was actually staying in a fancy hotel). And now that I’m back, I’m finally going to be able to catch up on things and share more photos.

First up are some more images from the Royal Wedding mayhem Milla and I encountered. As I explained yesterday, attending the Royal Wedding (ie, watching the royals drive by on their way to and from the wedding) wasn’t something we had originally planned on doing. But once we realized we were going to be in London on that much anticipated date, we knew we had to at least try to experience it in person.

Unfortunately, the campers who had been hanging out since Tuesday got the best spots, and by the time we made it into the city on Friday morning, all the areas where you might get a glimpse of the Queen were completely filled with people. So, we were sadly turned away and instead advised to watch the wedding on a big screen in one of the nearby parks. This is exactly what we did, finding the spectators perhaps even a bit more interesting to photograph than Wills and Kate and co.

It’s hard to describe the absolute craziness of the event–the thousands of people, the weird costumes, the myriad of waving flags emblazoned with Wills and Kate’s faces, and of course all the officers out to keep things orderly. Hopefully these photos will give you some idea of what it was like.

David Ferguson | Brisbane - Wow. What a lot of activity. I had a wedding on in the whitsunday’s so I missed nearly everything about it. To answer you David, they are viewers – long box two mirrors, like a periscope.

Heather Grilliot - Wow, how fun that you were there. I love them all!

Nicole - Great coverage. Loved the photos and really shows how much of a national event the wedding really was – shared by folks of so many walks of life.

David Dunton - Great set of images, Mary! Do you know what the skinny box-looking things the people are holding vertically in the twelfth image are?

Citlalli Rico - What a great photo experience Mary! Love them!

Christina Montemurro - Mary, what a fun set of images. The scale of the festivities there is just unbelievable. I suppose a wedding is as good a reason as any for a countrywide party!
