Our Last Visitors to Pittsburgh | Thoughts on Moving

My brother-in-law and his wife are coming into town to visit us today. I’m so excited to see them and catch up a bit. But I realized this morning as I was doing some last minute cleaning (shocking, I know), they’re probably going to be our last visitors to Pittsburgh. I really can’t believe that we’re moving in less than a month!

I have a lot of mixed feelings about moving, to be honest. I love Pittsburgh, and I love our friends and community here. But I am excited about new opportunities in DC, the new friends I’m sure we’ll make, and exploring and falling in love with my new city. Things that I won’t be missing? Not having a dishwasher. Seriously! I’m so excited about getting a dishwasher!

But all that aside, I know when the last box is loaded in the truck and I take one last sweep through our empty apartment, I’m going to be sad. I may even cry. Moving means saying goodbye…both to the good and bad. It means closing a door on one part of your life and opening another to the next stage, never to return to that time. The sentimental in me finds that profound.

OK, enough sad thoughts for one post! I’m going to make sure our last visitors enjoy a nice Pittsburgh welcome, complete with incline riding, Primanti’s eating, and Frick Park frolicking. Oh and of course a view of the beautiful city skyline.

FireMom - Do you sell your photos? I’d love a print of this one. It’s fantastic.

Mike - Congrats on moving onward and upward. What area of DC did you settle on?

Milla - this makes me sad. 🙂
