I announced last week that I’m going to be hosting two photography workshops in April. Some of you may remember that my wonderful wedding clients from last summer, Amanda and Tim, were the great models for my trash the dress workshop.

So, now I’m asking for at least two couples for the spring workshops. Don’t worry, they aren’t necessarily “trash the dress” themed, though if you’re up for that, we can certainly do that! The theme is wedding/engagement, so you can either do an engagement session or a post-wedding (or pre-wedding!) session. I only have a few requirements and they are:

1. Must be a couple.
2. Must be willing to be photographed by up to 15 people (and should be fairly comfortable with this).
3. Must want to have fun!

In return for your modeling services, I’ll provide you with a DVD of the images I take with reprint rights. And hopefully you’ll have a fun evening of it!

You can be a current client, a previous client, a friend of a client, someone’s cousin’s brother’s uncle…I have no preferences, as long as you meet the above requirements. Please send me an email or comment below if you’re interested. Let me know if you have any questions!

Finally, it appears that we may be leaving winter behind! With that in mind, I wanted to announce a couple of upcoming workshops that I’ll be doing in April. And, by doing so, I’m kind of giving away another very exciting piece of news…but I’ll wait to give it its own blog post.

Some of you may remember last fall’s trash the dress workshop, which was a lot of fun. I really love being able to help others advance their photography skills, and I always end up learning something myself, too!

This spring I’m offering two different workshops, one that will be held at my studio in Monroeville (shhh! that’s the next exciting announcement!), and one that will be held on-location in Pittsburgh. If you think you’d like to attend both, there’s a special discount. Here are the details:

Understanding Exposure: Learning to Shoot in Manual Mode
Who: Anyone who has a dSLR (or camera that allows for some manual control) and would like to learn how to shoot in their camera’s manual mode. While a basic understanding of aperture, shutter speed, and ISO is helpful, all of these items will be discussed during the workshop.
What: Hands-on learning in a studio setting with plenty of opportunities for questions and answers.
When: <del datetime="2010-03-18T18:40:14+00:00">Thursday, April 22nd</del> Sorry! Slight date change to WEDNESDAY April 21st, from 7-9pm
Where: Birchtree Photography Studio, Monroeville, PA (address will be given when you register)
Cost: $45
Limit: 15 attendees

Shooting On-Location: Maximizing Your Environment for the Best Photos
Who: This workshop is geared towards folks who have some working knowledge of shooting in manual/semi-manual mode or have just attended the Understanding Exposure Workshop. The theme of the shoot will be wedding/engagement photography, though the principles are similar for family and children portrait photography.
What: A guided on-location photo shoot where participants have the freedom to direct and work with the models.
When: Thursday, April 29th, from 6-8pm (if inclement weather, workshop will be rescheduled to the following Thursday)
Where: On-Location in Pittsburgh: TBD
Cost: $55
Limit: 10 attendees

The cost for attending both of the workshops is $90.

If you are interested in attending one or both of the workshops, please contact me through my Birchtree Photography Workshops page HERE, and be sure to indicate what workshops you’d like to attend. You’ll be able to sign up and pay the workshop fee online. Please note that registration is secured on a first-come basis.

Let me know if you have any questions, and I can’t wait to see you there!
