Canon 50D SLR Camera for Sale

This post is for those photography enthusiasts out there who read my blog, and the title is pretty self-explanatory…I’m selling my Canon 50D digital SLR camera. After purchasing the 5D II, I’m no longer using the 50D, and the poor thing has been sitting around my office for about three months now. It needs a new good home!

The specs: purchased new December 2008, includes the original box, battery, charger, cables, manual, strap, and software. Please note this is only for the body–no lens is included. No defects, only minor scratches on the side card-slot door.

The price: asking $785, including shipping and paypal if you’re not local. If you are local, the price can be lower! If you’re interested, post a comment with your email address (no one but me can see it), and I’ll get back to you ASAP.

SmugMug: More Than a Print Partner

If you’ve ever visited my main website (which I’m sure you have–it’s kind of hard to miss it from my blog), then you’ve visited another wonderful site hosted by SmugMug. I’m so very far from being a website designer, but with my limited knowledge and SmugMug’s handy tools, I was able to create a clean and professional website that I can tweak and change to my heart’s content. And, if you’ve been a long-time fan of Birchtree Photography, then you’ll know it’s undergone some crazy big changes over the years.

But, SmugMug is so much more than my host site–they’re also my “we’ve-got-your-back-print-partner” that’s essential for any professional photographer. To be clear, SmugMug doesn’t actually do any of the printing–that’s done through a contracted professional grade lab–but SmugMug handles all of the orders and provides a 100% satisfaction guarantee. And when they say 100% satisfaction, they really mean it. For instance, just recently I ordered some print enlargements for a client. When I received the prints, I was surprised to see a strange discoloration in one of the prints, and I thought it had to be the lab’s fault. After a quick response from a REAL person at the SmugMug help desk, I realized the fault was in fact with the file–not the lab (something to do with chromatic aberration…it can happen even to the best of lenses!). And here’s where I was really blown away by SmugMug’s service. They offered to edit the file for me and reorder the prints–no questions asked, no additional charges.

Wow. That’s awesome. Two days later, I received the new prints, and they look perfect. Now that’s what I call a print PARTNER. Thanks SmugMug!

Here’s the really good news: SmugMug is not just for professionals. They have three different levels of membership, so even if you never aspire to be a professional photographer yourself, they’re a great place to host and share your snapshots with family and friends. If you do decide to sign up, let me know, and I can give you a $5 off coupon code.

And if you think SmugMug has somehow paid me or pushed me to write this…they didn’t. I really do love working with SmugMug, and there are so many more great things I could say about this company…but then, I’d probably loose you.

And since a post with no photo is lame, here’s one from Emily and Bob’s wedding last Saturday. It snowed, and it was perfect!

BigMamaCass - Smug Mug is AWESOME!!! I have had a Pro Account with them for a couple years and I have NEVER had such amazing customer service as I have had with them. They are just fantastic. So awesome of you to write this cool blog. I just sent them an email last week saying I would never use anyone else and that they are so awesome!! 🙂

Sweet Dreams–I ♥ Faces Week 48

I must say that my choice for this week’s i ♥ faces theme, “Sweet Dreams” is really more for personal reasons than the technical aspect of the photo. As I was trying to decide which photo to use, I did think of the beautiful newborn session I did a few weeks ago and knew some photos from that would be perfect…but…I think I’m going to go with this one of my two favorite “boys.”

This was taken a couple of years ago after Jay and I returned from a long road trip. He was exhausted, and well Astin was…his usual sleepy self. Still, I was proud of myself for snapping this photo without waking either of them up. (Eh, sorry about Jay’s hairy leg!)

Be sure to check out all the other wonderful entries at i ♥ faces.

Tezzie - Huge congratulations!!!

Julia Spencer - Nice… The dog is priceless…

Katie - men and their dogs… 🙂

Becca - I adore your entry 🙂 as always!

BigMamaCass - After looking at 1293847109238741 sleeping baby pictures today (including my own) I must say this photo was a breath of fresh air. Not to mention, its GREAT!! Love the contrast too!

Pics by Mic - I just love it! That’s a Jack Russel isn’t it! I have one of my own and she is so precious when she is sleeping. I absolutely love this photo!

Tara. - This is really great! Love the dog especially. 🙂

Tomara - I think it’s great technically! The b&w color is perfect and the composition is great – I like how the two subjects are split. The perspective is good, too (even with the hairy legs which I wouldn’t have noticed at first glance). Great photo!

angi - what a great picture to capture with both models sleeping side by side

colleen - One of my favorites!!! Love it!!!!

Aubrey - This is Classic!!!! Man and his Best Friend doing what they do best!! Love it! 😉

Phatchik - A boy and his dog…love it!

Sarah - What a great photo choice!! Awesome capture!

Tezzie - Ohhh…wonderful! A man (is always a “boy”) and his dog! Beautiful capture 😀

Life with Kaishon - This picture is perfect for the theme. I love it 🙂 And there are nine million babies over there this week but very few hair legged men : )

Tami - Love the adult sleepers….a baby is an easy shot right?? 🙂

Happy Friday!

I’m getting ready to shoot my last wedding of the year tomorrow….and I’m putting together an awesome contest thingy that I’m going to be showcasing next week on my blog. So, stay tuned…

In the midst of it all, I’m trying to contain my excitement about going back to Texas for the holidays. I’m looking forward to seeing my family and (hopefully) soaking up some warmer weather! But, there is one sad thing about it all…I won’t get to take this loser with me:

Yes, despite his worthlessness…I’m going to miss him. Have a great weekend everyone!

caroline - Heh, your photo taking is boring him. Worthless, maybe, but he is totally adorable.

Milla - SO funny!! I just saw your comment and came over here to check out your dog post! Sweet Astin… he’s about like my dogs, sleeping and yawning all day! 😉
