Happy Thanksgiving!

Just finished making a couple of chess pies (mmm…yummy—they’re a Southern tradition), and have been desperately trying to get some rolls to rise all morning. And while I’ve been “slaving away” in the kitchen, my dearest husband has been coming along behind me picking up my messes! I make lots of them when I’m cooking. Try as I might, it seems unavoidable.

I hope all of you are having a great day with family and friends. We’re going over to some friends’ house this afternoon to feast and fellowship together, as we both are “familyless.” Last year, though, Jay and I pulled off the greatest surprise for his mother when we showed up unexpectedly at his parent’s house in Texas. It was awesome. She had absolutely no idea we were coming, and we were actually talking with her on the phone as we walked through the door. This year is much more low key!

So, a very happy thanksgiving, and enjoy getting up early to shop tomorrow–if that’s your thing. It’s definitely not mine.

Sun Flare | I โ™ฅ Faces Week 46

This is an exciting week at I โ™ฅ Faces as the fabulous Becker is the judge. That being said, I had a hard time finding a sun flare photo that I really liked. As I started searching through past weddings and engagement shoots this year, I began to realize just how many cloudy days we’ve had in Pittsburgh. Seriously. It was like, “cloudy, cloudy, rainy, kind of a little bit of sun, cloudy, and finally–sun!” So, this shot is from Kate and Alex’s beautiful (and sunny) wedding back in August.

Be sure to check out all the other wonderful entries at I โ™ฅ Faces.

Karyn Kuniyuki - There is so much going on here, lovely! My favorite part is that the bride, all in white, is situated in the darkest section of the image, making her a standout AND a knockout! Fun composition! I’ve seen jumping bridal parties but never parading bridal parties, clever!

Sarah - How creative– the shadows AND the flare AND the subjects– just make this a stunning shot. I bet you are upi in the top ten again!

And congratulations from last week. I had a browse through you blog and your work is inspiring!
