Home Sweet Home

The suitcases are unpacked and the laundry is done. Astin has been reunited with his spot on the couch, and the pantry has been restocked. Now I’m just willing myself to stay awake as I fight the jet lag.

What an adventure! I can’t hardly wait to go through all the photos and share them with you! Where do I even begin? Well, actually, I have a lot of other photos I need to process, too, so I will have to share the UK with you bit by bit.

We flew in last night–after a seven hour delay in Newark (blar). And you would have thought they could have gotten our luggage on the flight, but alas, that was delayed, too. But minus the last leg of the trip we didn’t really encounter any difficulties. I can’t complain (too much).

However, as I mentioned, I’m desperately fighting jet lag and losing. So, I will just have to share one photo for now. It’s from Glencoe, arguably one of the most beautiful spots in Scotland. If this photo doesn’t knock your socks off, then the others will I’m sure. And, it just so happens that this little pond was also the background in Harry Potter for Hagrid’s hut (all you Harry Potter fans know just what I’m talking about–and if you don’t–well sorry). We stayed at a little B&B right next to it. Don’t worry, I didn’t see any strange critters running about.

I’m Off to Scotland

So the last few days have been great–on Tuesday we drove to York and ate at a lovely tea shop named Betty’s and walked around the city walls. On Wednesday we drove to Wales near Mt. Snowdon and climbed around a neat castle and hiked along a path and discovered a little village. Well, I imagine that it was well known but we hadn’t expected it.

Yesterday we drove back to Durham and toured the town, including the local castle/university. Today we’re going to climb the tower in the cathedral–which should be quite an endeavor. In the afternoon, Jay and I are bidding goodbye to Martha, Ben, and Liam and taking the train to Edinburgh. We’ll meet up with some friends from Pittsburgh, and go on a tour of Scotland. So far, everything has been great, and we seemed to have avoided the dreaded English weather.

Sorry I don’t have any photos–I just don’t have the software I need on my own computer. But, I promise there will be plenty of photos when I get back!

We made it!

Well we made it safe and sound to Durham yesterday without too much trouble. We flew into Edinburgh and then took the train to Martha and Ben’s little town. We’ve been having fun playing with Liam–he’s so big now–and hanging out with some of Martha and Ben’s good friends.

Today we’re off for York, and I’ll try to get a photo or two posted soon. I’m afraid this post is just plain boring. Oh well…

I’m Off to England and Scotland!

Yay! I’m so excited! I’m flying today to visit my sister in England and to take a little vacation around Scotland.

I haven’t seen my sister and brother-in-law and my sweet little nephew Liam since LAST JUNE! Ack! Liam’s grown so much, and I just can’t hardly wait to “squeeze the little bits out of ’em,” as my mother would say.

To compare how much he’s grown, below is a photo I took of him last June (Jay’s in the background)…and check out recent ones on my sister’s blog.

Now, I’m going to try to post on here as often as I can, but I’m not making any guarantees for when that will be. I promise to give a full recount (with photos!) when I return. So, if you need to get in touch with me–email is best because I’m not taking my phone.
