Steph and Justin’s E-Session

This evening I met up with Steph and Justin at, where else, but my new favorite park. They brought their adorable Pomeranian “Sprocket,” and we had fun traversing the grounds. Though, I think their little puppy was a little hot!

Steph and Justin first met in college in Massachusetts and were just friends in the beginning…but of course, things obviously changed. So, they’ve come a long way, in more than one sense! Their wedding is actually just a few weeks away, and I’m looking forward to it (it’s going to all be on the Gateway Clipper!). Should be fun and beautiful.

Again, I love the moss and bricks!

Justin strikes a pose!

Too cute.

Goofy photo!

Liz and Matt’s Engagement Photos at My New Favorite Park

Jay and I sometimes like to drive to a different neighborhood in Pittsburgh and take walks (with Astin, of course) for a change of scenery. So, Thursday we were walking along Beechwood Blvd. in Squirrel Hill when we discovered what has now become my new favorite park. At least, it’s my new favorite park for taking pictures. It’s part of Mellon Park, and it’s awesome. But instead of describing it to you, I’ll just show you the photos from Liz and Matt’s engagement session on Saturday.

Liz and Matt are good friends of mine, so it was a lot of fun (and very easy) to take their engagement pictures. Also, you might remember that Liz is Rebekah’s younger sister (and they are both gorgeous!).

Don’t you love the brick?

Yes! Those are some BIRCH trees! I love it!

Silly, but cute.

Liz is short–er, vertically challenged–like me (sorry Liz, we both know it).

I just love the way Matt and Liz look at each other!

Um, not the best gift, Matt.

But, Liz can take a joke.

Yes, they even climbed a tree for me.

Liz to Matt: “So, what do you have to bring to the table?”

Matt: “Good taste.”

Besides knowing about every tree and flower at the park, Matt can also scale walls.

Hot Chica!

I’m looking forward to their wedding in September.

Lizz and Derrick’s Wedding–5/23/09

Lizz and Derrick’s wedding was held at the breathtakingly beautiful Zen Center of Pittsburgh in Sewickley last Saturday. The details were exquisite, and most were chosen and even created by Lizz and her mother. Everything came together so well and reflected Lizz and Derrick’s tastes–classy yet fun. Even the weather cooperated! I think the photos will describe it better for you, so I’ll leave it at that.

Even the dogs were included:

Lizz’s dress reminded me of vintage Vogue.

It was a little bright during the ceremony.

This shot was taken by Jay–way to go babe!

Lizz and Derrick wrote their own vows.

Can’t get much prettier than this view.

First moments as Mr. and Mrs.

Lovely blue sky and golden field. Can’t beat it.

Stunning.

I think this is my favorite kiss.

Doesn’t this look fun?

Lizz’s mother cross-stitched the table numbers.

Lizz’s sister gave the sweetest toast.

The flower girl was a little doll.

Fans couldn’t miss the Penguins’ game:

They couldn’t get their first dance to themselves.

They had a lively dance floor.

The Pennsylvanian Wedding Photography | Christine and Sean - […] In a warm church in July, Christine and Sean shared their hand-written vows with each other and later celebrated their wedding reception at the Pennsylvanian in downtown Pittsburgh. Although saying it was a warm day would be putting it mildly, Christine and Sean couldn’t have had a sweeter ceremony or wonderful reception. I loved seeing them surrounded by their friends and family, and it was truly beautiful to capture the story of their day. An added bonus was getting to catch up with a former bride and groom, Lizz and Derrick. […]

Fun Things in the Mail » Pittsburgh Wedding Photographer | Birchtree Photography Blog - […] Sweet, a full-page spread for Lizz and Derrick’s do-it-yourself wedding. […]

Published! Pittsburgh’s WHIRL Wedding Guide: Lizz and Derrick » Pittsburgh Wedding Photographers | Birchtree Photography Blog - […] this towards one of my goals–getting published in two magazines, technically, I submitted Lizz and Derrick’s beautiful outdoor wedding to WHIRL last year. So, I’ll just have to get two other weddings from this year […]

Theresa Rutter - I love the black and white photographs. You have captured not only the wedding, but the essence of the ceremony itself. They make a beautiful couple – of course I might be a bit prejudice as I am the groom’s aunt!!

Lisa Piellusch - You’ve nicely captured some really great moments. 🙂

This is Big

OK, so I’ve already posted twice(!) today, but I just heard this on the news tonight. Obama is going to host the G20 in Pittsburgh this September. That’s huge for this city. I’m excited about getting some photos (if not of Obama, at least of some wild protesters who will surely descend upon the city).

I promise my next post will be photography related!
