DC Birth Photography | A Home Birth

Being present at and documenting a birth is probably one of the most awe-inspiring things I get to do with my camera. Each story is unique, powerful, and beautiful. I consider it a great privilege to witness such an incredible event.

I recently got to photograph this amazing birth…and the strength of the mom and dad. Shared with permission, here a few photos of this birth story.  A big congratulations to this family!

Capitol Hill Family Photos | Ben’s Family

Here’s a confession: sometimes when I edit sessions my mouth begins to hurt because I’m smiling so much.  It’s true…I can’t help but smile back at the laughing, joyful faces on my computer screen.  This was one of those sessions.

Ben is a completely adorable little guy.  I met up with his family at Garfield Park on Capitol Hill in DC last week, and I so enjoyed spending time with them taking fall photos.

Here are a few of my favorites from this family session.  See if you can’t help but smile when you see them, too!

Nancy - I tried to pick a favorite, but I couldn’t. All capture the joy this family has in being together. And yes, I am smiling!?

Apple Picking Family Photos | Priscilla, Josiah, and Family

Having a fall birthday, I think I’ve always been a bit partial to this season of the year.  And living in the DC area means I actually get to experience fall in all its golden colors and fun activities. One of those experiences I didn’t have as a child growing up in Texas is apple picking.

I didn’t know what I was missing!  And what a picturesque setting for family photos. I recently photographed this dear family (whom I’m sure you’ve seen on the blog before) at the lovely Stribling Orchard in Markham, VA. While there are certainly closer orchards to DC, this part of Virginia is incredibly beautiful with the rolling hills and trees.  It was definitely worth the drive.

Priscilla is so darling…and grown-up! She adores her baby brother, Josiah.  Here are a few of my favorite photos from this family session.

Fall Family Portraits | Baby Olivia and Family

It’s fall y’all (yes I am from Texas originally), and that means fall family photos! To kick off this season of family portraits, I actually traveled to Houston, TX to visit a dear friend and take pictures of her new baby girl and her precious family.

Baby Olivia is a sweet little doll, and she’s got some great big brothers who I’m sure will take good care of her as she gets older. I am so thankful for my friend, Kara, and that we’ve gotten to experience so many life stages together (starting in high school!).

A big congratulations to her and her husband, James, on their new little girl. Here’s a few of my favorites from their family photo session.
