Hotel Le Meridien Wedding | Erin and Joe

As I edited the photos from Erin and Joe’s wedding in the last few weeks, I found myself smiling at my computer screen…a lot. It’s easy to see why, too. Erin and Joe’s wedding day was truly filled with joy–and no cold, wintry weather could take that away.

Surrounded by family and friends at Capitol Hill Baptist Church in DC, Erin and Joe exchanged vows and later celebrated at the snazzy Hotel Le Meridien in Arlington, VA. Their genuine love and affection is contagious, and all who call them friends are blessed. I so enjoyed capturing the joy of their day.

Altoona Wedding Photography | Michelle and Ryan

Michelle and Ryan both grew up in Altoona, PA, but ironically, they didn’t meet until they both moved to the DC area. And while their lives are now settled here, they celebrated their marriage with family and friends “back home” in small-town Altoona.

If you spend any time with Michelle and Ryan, you will quickly see how much they enjoy joking and having fun together. Their sense of humor definitely came in handy when Ryan broke his ankle during a training exercise just a couple weeks before the wedding. I think most brides would probably freak out if their groom suddenly lost the ability to walk days before the wedding, but Michelle took it all in stride, so to speak. And Ryan–he is one tough guy (well, duh, he’s a U.S Marine and has a pretty amazing job). Despite being in a lot of pain, he made the best of the situation and didn’t let it stop him from dancing with his bride. A big congratulations to Michelle and Ryan! You are both amazing people.

Mattress Factory Art Museum Wedding | Katie and Allan

Surrounded by an intimate gathering of friends and family, Katie and Allan exchanged vows at the modern Mattress Factory Art Museum in Pittsburgh last month. Their small, family-style wedding was a perfect celebration of these two talented and creative individuals. I must admit, the Mattress Factory Art Museum is one of my all-time favorite art museums. It’s just plain fun and quirky. So it was no surprise that Katie and Allan and their wedding guests enjoyed the museum’s fun setting and danced their hearts out.

Longue Vue Country Club Wedding | Jenn and Ryan

There’s a special sweetness between Jenn and Ryan that’s impossible to ignore when you’re around them, so naturally their wedding was a beautiful overflow of their relationship. Their details were romantic…their celebration was festive with a great show of love from their family and friends…and the day passed too quickly! I was especially impressed with Jenn’s way of honoring their guests (and creating a seating chart) by using their guests’ wedding photos (even mine was there!) to mark the names and places.

Everyone enjoyed the celebration at the Longue Vue Country Club with once again, Jeremy’s talent keeping the party going late. A big congratulations to Jenn and Ryan! Here are just a few favorite moments from their day.

Purple and Teal Wedding Details | Real Wedding Style

Coordinating colors to create the right look for your wedding can be a challenge. I love how Abby and Matthew incorporated their purple and teal color choices into their decor. The key is to try not to make everything match perfectly–it’s impossible anyway. I think the purple and teal scheme created a fun and festive atmosphere, which really fit their dance-happy reception at the Pittsburgh Center for the Arts well.

I also really liked how Abby and Matthew personalized their place settings by using favorite and meaningful locations in their neighborhood as table markers. Using photos from their Regent Square engagement session enabled guests to get a feel for the places. And last but not least–their almond torte cake not only looked incredible…it was pretty tasty, too. I mean, that’s what all the guests were saying…
