Cotswolds Wedding Photography | England Destination Wedding Photography

Part of my trip to England last month was to visit my sister and her family, but another part was to photograph a couple of weddings with Mike Garrard, a Foundation Workshop friend and photographer. Milla and I joined Mike (and we became the three M’s) for a couple of weddings, assisting him and second shooting. The first wedding we photographed was a quintessentially English countryside wedding, located in a beautiful area of the country known as the Cotswolds.

While I discovered that English weddings are often very similar to American weddings, there were some marked differences. One of my favorites was the manner of dress of the guests. Exotic hats and headpieces were not only the norm but the rule for the ladies. And instead of a one-hour cocktail hour, guests enjoyed a relaxed two-hour “reception” where they played lawn games like croquet (how English) and a game of giant Jenga. I had such a fun time assisting Mike and working with him and Milla. We made a great team. Here are just a few favorites from this first wedding.

Chris - Hi – just wondering what this venue is? It looks stunning. My fiancee and I are currently looking for wedding venues in the Cotswolds ourselves, and would like to go and see this one!

Helen B - What is the name of this venue? It looks beautiful!

Christina Montemurro - Beautiful work Mary! My favorite probably has to be the distinguished woman in blue. You can not look any more British than that. But I also really love the bride in the car.

Jessie Thomson - Absolutely stunning photo’s, the bride walking through the field is beautiful. Love!

Nicole - Your images always inspire me because you do a fantastic job at capturing a slice of the story in the one frame. Really gives me something to aspire to.

Thanks 🙂

Milla - Wooohoooo so excited to see this post!! You rock, Mary. I love your take on the day (and wish we could go back!).

bonnie - my favorite is the bride’s silhouette, lit veil, yellow flowers and big sky… gorgeous mary!

Mark Schwarz - Absolutely beautiful! I would rather be at this wedding than the royal wedding.

Ashley - Fabulous work, Mary!
