OK, so maybe this isn’t going to be the definitive review of Black Rapid RS-4 straps, but I’ll give it my best shot. I know I talked about these handy things in my post on shooting with two cameras, but I didn’t give much detail about how they work.
Let’s take a closer look at these things:
The first thing to note is the shoulder padding…this is a must when you’re toting heavy cameras and lenses around. Your won’t find this on regular straps.
Then see the nice little pocket for holding extra CF cards. I love this feature because it means I’m not storing (loosing) extra stuff in my pockets.
Though Black Rapid makes a double strap for carrying two cameras, I chose to get two individual ones and connect them with the coupleR. This way I have the freedom to carry just one camera if I want to.
Lastly, and most importantly, the straps are bolted securely to your camera on the bottom.
Now let’s see these things in action again (yeah, I know I said two twice…but the couplRs do come in a set of two!):

So, there you have it…the definitive review of the Black Rapid RS-4 straps. And if you buy their product, I don’t get anything special. Just the knowledge that I helped someone’s shoulders avoid chronic pain…

Dawn - Thank you for the review and pictures! I recently purchased the double-strap version (as opposed to two single straps) and like it a lot. But I have trouble with a) my cameras swinging like a pendulum and b) I can’t squat/kneel without lens or flash hitting the ground. Do you have these issues too?
LaRae Lobdell - Mary this review on the RS-4 totally rocks! Thank you!
Randi Voss Photography - Wonderful review, Mary. I’m considering many options to hold my cameras too. You make para-trooping look good!
Jeremy G. - AKA – The Rambo Package.
pamela marie photography - haha! love it! 🙂 i’m still debating between black rapid and a couple of other brands. but i have a feeling i’ll have one in my hands (er, on my shoulders) by may 1 🙂
