Rainy, Fun Engagement Photos | Amanda and Steve

I think Pittsburgh is the Seattle of the North East. It rains here a lot in the summer…not usually all day but a shower or two in the afternoon. Which means I’ve ended up photographing weddings and engagement sessions in the rain. And if you ask me, it’s kind of fun! Fortunately, Amanda and Steve thought so, too…at least, they didn’t seem to mind getting a bit wet.

Originally, Amanda and Steve had planned on bringing their sweet dog along for their engagement session, but when the forecast said hot and humid weather, they decided to keep her at home. And although it looked like we might get some rain, we decided to go ahead with the shoot because the day worked best for their schedules. And, they brought an umbrella…so we were covered! Right?

Amanda and Steve met through a mutual friend at work and slowly began getting to know each other…eventually calls and texts turned into dating and getting engaged. They both enjoy watching Pittsburgh sport teams, so we decided to meet up along Pittsburgh’s North Shore for their engagement photos. I honestly had a lot of fun hanging out with them, and I’m looking forward to the wedding next year at the Double Tree Hotel.

Just reading the paper, you know, on a humid afternoon in Pittsburgh.

Love this.

When you jump, you forget to worry about the camera…

OK, I love this, too.

Not long after the last photo, it began to rain. Of course, by that point we’d left the umbrella behind at the car when they changed outfits. Figures. We sought shelter by PNC park…then just went for it.

Although Steve laughed at first…I knew he secretly wanted to try to catch raindrops, too.

See?

Amanda and Steve–thanks so much for being so fun! Can’t wait ’till next year!

Mark - Do you have an umbrella holder with you, how do you handle the rain and your gear.

Milla - Your photos are ALWAYS so fun! Even in the rain! Great job Mary!

Jenny - What a cute couple. Love the pictures with the newspaper.
