Planning Your Wedding | Where Do You start?

While enjoying the company of my best friend and her husband this weekend, I also photographed a beautiful wedding on Saturday with Jay. As I was with the girls as they got ready, an interesting question came up that got me thinking. One of the bridesmaids asked, “Where do you even start to plan a wedding?” She added that she wouldn’t have even thought about getting the marriage license. How were you supposed to figure everything out?

It’s a good question. How do you plan a wedding? Where do you start? What are the best websites and magazines out there? It’s been over five years since I got married, so I know a lot of the things I used are probably obsolete. There weren’t a lot of wedding blogs at that time, though we did have theKnot.com. And while I try to blog about tips and ideas for wedding planning, a lot of my expertise is naturally focused on photography. But, I happen to know quite a few brides who have recently gotten married, are getting married, or will be getting married in a year or so. I know they have some great insights into the wedding planning process. So, my dear brides, I’m calling on you to help out the ladies who are following in your footsteps.

I created a short questionnaire to gather some of the basics about wedding planning. I’d LOVE to hear your input. What do you recommend? Any do’s and don’ts? (scroll down to hit the submit button)

Many thanks in advance for your help!
