On a beautiful fall day last week I met up with Jessica and Scott to take some engagement pictures in the city that is near to their heart–Pittsburgh, of course! Although Jessica is not from the Pittsburgh area–and they will actually be getting married closer to her home town of Philadelphia–they both met at Slippery Rock University and made Pittsburgh their home.
So I was delighted to be able shoot their engagement session for them, and I was even more thrilled when I found out they’d be bringing their two sweet dogs! Yep, Jessica and Scott are raising two adorable brother and sister Pit Bull puppies. I know Pit Bulls get a bad rap for being aggressive and mean, but these dogs couldn’t be any sweeter. It’s unfortunate that this great breed has gotten a bad name because of irresponsible owners and the despicable practice of dog fighting because they really are wonderful dogs and make great pets in the right homes. OK, off my soap box and back to the session! You’ll see for yourself how cute they are!
We decided to do their shoot at West Allegheny Commons Park on the North Side, so we could later wander around the Mexican War Streets for some more urban photos. Thanks y’all for the fun session, and a big congratulations on your engagement!
You can’t tell me these dogs aren’t smiling.
Hey, now that’s no way to treat your brother! (no dogs were harmed in the making of this photo)

Beth - These are great pictures, capturing such great snap shots of a beautiful couple!
Jessica - Mary, I could not ask for better pictures! They are so very “us” especially the puppies and the fact that I am laughing in almost all of them. Thank you so much and I can not wait to see the rest of them. If we were getting married in Pittsburgh, you would definately be our girl, you are so talented.
Milla - OH. MY. GOODNESS. I am absolutely in love with those puppies (and your amazing photos!) Great job, Mary. What an awesome session.
