Some people love it. Others scorn it, calling the whole thing just another corporate excuse to make money. Very few even know what started it. And many others just ignore the whole thing and go about their business as they normally do.
As I wedding photographer, I feel I ought to embrace the Valentine’s Day holiday, but honestly, I think love can and should be shown on any day of the year. That’s not to belittle the romantic stories of people getting engaged or married on February 14th–I love great stories of love regardless of what day they occur on. And I think that’s the point…if we all spent a great deal of effort to love our beloved every day of the year…then the idea of one day of romance a year would seem silly, unnecessary.
So love those in your life today–and not just your beloved but friends, parents, brothers, sisters, and children too.
