A Really Big Announcement. Yes. Really. Big.

With a title like that, I’ll just get right to it.

We’re moving.

Not across town or to a different side of a river. No, we’re moving to another city. Another state.

Jay and I are moving to Washington D.C. Well, mostly likely we’ll end up somewhere in Maryland (how fitting), but we are going to be in the DC, Northern Virginia, Maryland area starting sometime mid-summer.

I told you this was a really big announcement. It’s something that five years ago when Jay started his PhD program at the University of Pittsburgh we thought may one day come to pass, but we would never know for sure until it did. It’s something I’m both excited about but also really, really sad. On the one hand, I’m thankful for Jay’s new job (why we’re moving), but on the other, I’m really going to miss Pittsburgh!

Moving from Texas to Pittsburgh five year ago, I had no idea that I would fall in love with this town. I couldn’t have imagined the great friendships we would grow here or the wonderful people we would meet. I never foresaw how my business would take off and flourish. All I knew was uncertainty. And I definitely never imagined myself wanting to stay here! I’m so glad Pittsburgh proved me wrong!

The good news is that we won’t be too far away, and I will most certainly be back to visit and to photograph weddings on a regular basis. As I’ve already explained in an email to my clients, we will probably be moving in July, but I will be back to photograph everyone’s wedding as scheduled. Not only that, but I will always be open to photographing weddings here in Pittsburgh (and have several already scheduled for next year). I’m thinking of it more as expanding my business to a new region than totally leaving another.

So what does this mean going forward? Well, it means I’ll be photographing a lot more weddings and portraits in DC, Maryland, and NOVA (Northern Virginia) in the coming years…and probably less in Pittsburgh. So if you know folks who are looking for a photographer in the DC area, feel free to share my name! And if you’re a bride hoping for me to photograph your wedding in Pittsburgh, definitely still inquire!

In the meantime, I’ll still be here, blogging and sharing beautiful weddings and incredible moments, sometimes boring you with photos of Astin. And I’ll definitely keep everyone updated on actual move dates and my new location (when I figure it out!). Thanks to everyone who has been so wonderful and supportive to me over the years here! Your friendships have encouraged me to pursue dreams I wasn’t sure I could, and I know they will help carry me to this new stage and place!
