Pittsburgh Wedding Venue Reviews | Lingrow Farm

Although I will be moving to DC this summer, I see myself photographing some weddings here in Pittsburgh every year. I also enjoy helping brides and grooms find the perfect venues and vendors for their day, so I’m going to continue with my reviews of Pittsburgh wedding venues (and share DC wedding venues as I encounter them) with a review of Lingrow Farm.

The calendar says it’s spring, although the weather doesn’t currently agree. But that shouldn’t keep you from thinking about spring and summer weddings! We can all agree Pittsburgh has fickle weather, so if you’re wanting an outdoor wedding, the late spring, summer, and early fall is your best bet for a beautiful day. And if you’re looking for a rustic farm setting, you can’t get much better than Lingrow Farm.

Now, I must say that planning an outdoor wedding in Pittsburgh is not for the faint of heart. If the stress of bad weather is going to consume your thoughts, I’d advise against it. But if you’re willing to take a gamble and go with whatever comes on your day, I say an outdoor wedding can be fantastic.

Lingrow Farm is a great facility with a lot of nice space and plenty of options to work with. You can have an outdoor ceremony by the lake or just a nice reception in the cabin. Or you can do both, as Tara and Nate did last June. The advantage of having an outdoor venue with a dedicated inside space was evident when it started to rain and storm on their day. By the time the heavens opened up and gushed forth, we had already finished with the ceremony and taken photos around the farm, and guests were tucked inside the cabin where it was nice and dry.

In terms of aesthetics, Lingrow Farm has just about everything you can imagine for a country-setting wedding: a picturesque pond, a quaint field, rustic cabins, tasteful landscaping, and a major plus for your guests–easy parking! An open, two-level porch on the main cabin provides a nice mingling place that can be set up for a cocktail hour. Inside the main room there’s a decent amount of space for a sit-down dinner and dancing, though to be honest, I’m not sure how many guests you could accommodate here. This is certainly not the venue for a 200 guest reception–probably more like 150 or less. You’d need to check with Lingrow Farm to be sure!

The staff and coordinators were pleasant to work with, and I was impressed with how they managed things during the brief but powerful thunderstorm. And for being a farm in the country, Lingrow Farm is actually not too far from Pittsburgh–just about an hour’s drive away. So if you’re looking for a farm setting for your outdoor wedding, I would definitely recommend checking out Lingrow Farm.
