St. Mary of the Mount Pittsburgh Wedding | Caitlin and Derick

I’d been looking forward to photographing Caitlin and Derick’s wedding for a long time, so when their day finally arrived last Saturday, I was pumped. Not only are these two wonderful people obviously very much in love with each other, they have a joy and excitement that is contagious. I seriously could not stop smiling throughout their day–and neither could Caitlin and Derick! I don’t think I’ve ever seen a bride more excited for her wedding day than Caitlin. And that’s saying something.

Their beautiful ceremony was held at St. Mary of the Mount Church on Mt. Washington, and their awesome reception was held the gorgeous William Penn Omni Hotel. And, despite the very c-o-old weather (9 degrees, folks!), Caitlin and Derick (and their wonderful bridal party!) braved the elements to take some outside photos at PPG Plaza and around the William Penn Omni Hotel.

A huge congratulations to Caitlin and Derick!

I loved Caitlin’s expression as she saw the church.

Did I mention it was cold and windy?

Awesome shot by Jay…

Like I said…windy…

Y’all are seriously beautiful people!

Caitlin and Derick had the Presidential Suite at the Omni, where we availed ourselves of this piano.

Ha, love it.

Father, daughter dance…

My Best Friend

We met in 9th grade. I was completely new to the school; so was she. I was a nerd; so was she (sigh, it’s true). I needed a friend; so did she. And to top it off, my home room teacher assigned her to “show me around.”

And that’s how my best friend, Kara, and I met. So, we really blame our teacher Mrs. Love for any mischief we may have perpetrated during our four years in high school. It’s her fault, really.

In all seriousness, though, I’m so thankful to have Kara as a friend. She’s the kind of person who sticks with you through good times and bad; she’s trustworthy, kind, thoughtful, and she loves the Lord. And she’s also probably mad I’m writing all this because she’s humble and isn’t big on praising herself.

I’ve never met anyone else with whom I’ve ever laughed so hard so many times (though Jay comes close!). I’m talking about stomach-aching-tears-streaming-mouth-hurting kind of laughter.

I really miss getting to hang out with her these days (Houston, TX is a looong way from Pittsburgh). So, it was especially fun to visit her and her husband, James, over our Christmas trip, and to take some family photos for them. Yay for best friends!

Their cute pup’s name is Ewok.

Yeah, we have a weird sense of humor.

I had half a mind to bring Ewok back with me…

Modern art. Poor James.

Kara - But where are the wildflowers?? where?? it was so good to hang out with you and laugh with you in person. Thanks for making the trip to come see us and thanks for the awesome photos!

Heather - Oh my! That was soooo fun to see those pictures! I sure do miss all you guys and our times together. Thanks for putting these up.
You rock!

An “i ♥ faces” Photo Challege

This week’s theme at i ♥ faces is a challenge to include their logo in a recent photo, either naturally or with photoshop. They are soon to be celebrating their one year anniversary.

So, this is my entry for the contest (amazing how I found that wall in Texas with their logo on it).

Be sure to check out all the other wonderful entries at i ♥ faces.
