Merry Christmas, Y’all!

What a wonderful week I’ve had getting to spend time with family and friends. I promise to share some more photos, too. But today, I just want to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas! And an especially wonderful day to all those newlyweds celebrating their first Christmas!

Rachel - This is an absolutely gorgeous picture!

No Snow in Dallas

These past couple of days I’ve been a bit sad that we missed the snow in Pittsburgh…but I sure hope my sweet doggie is enjoying it (and everyone else, too!). By the way, I won first place for that photo of him on i ♥ faces this last week.

So, instead of romping around in the snow, we’ve been enjoying balmy 50 degree weather here in Dallas. On Saturday we took Rudy to a park and enjoyed the sunny weather, and then yesterday Jay, Albert, and I went for a nice walk and played some pool in the evening at my dad’s place. Tomorrow we’re headed for San Antonio to visit Jay’s family.

And lastly, Jay and Albert had a bit of fun testing their running and timing skills…

I think Albert won…

Milla - MARY congrats on winning first place AGAIN! That’s so awesome. I love your pictures of home, too… the pool balls are awesome. You should frame that pic and put it in the pool room! 🙂 Hope you’re having a great time at home!

marfa - Wow, Albert grew up since the summer! What happened to my baby brother?

Heather - Such great photos! I can tell you are having a ton of fun. You are an amazing artist and I love your pictures – they are my favoritest of all! 🙂

Have a great Christmas!

Meet Rudy

I’m going to have a lot of dogs to introduce you to on this trip. My only consolation for having to leave my own beast behind is that I’ll have a dog (or two) to keep me company everywhere we stay.

So, introducing Rudy. He’s my mom’s new pup…and he’s quite cute. At first glance you might think he is some sort of shepherd mix.

While his paws seem large enough…

You quickly realize he’s much too short to be a shepherd.

In fact, he’s a Swedish Vallhund.

And being the cute thing that he is, he gets away with a lot of stuff. It doesn’t help that he’s still a puppy.

Oh well, I’m sure my mom’s keeping him…but if she wanted to give him up, I know a dog who could use a fun companion…

Heather - He is too freaking cute! great photos of him!

Cindy - Aww he’s super cute!! I work with dogs and even I have never seen a Swedish Vallhund!

Milla - oh my goodness… what a cute dog! I’ve never seen anything like him! It looks like something between a german shepherd and a welsh corgi!

Leaving on a Jet Plane…

Who loves packing? Raise your hand.

Not me. That’s probably because I’m an over-packer…I usually end up transporting five different pairs of shoes back and forth across the country that I never actually wear. And let’s not mention shirts and pants… Oh well. To me being somewhere far, far away from “the” shoes or “the” shirt that I “need” is much worse than carrying all the stuff I do. As usual, I didn’t finish packing until late before the night we leave. Some things never change.

Back to the main point–Jay and I are flying to visit family for Christmas tomorrow morning, and that means I’ll be out of the office for the next couple of weeks. While I’ll still have access to phone and email, I may be much slower in responding to you. Just an FYI. After a wonderful year of photographing many families celebrating the joy of marriage, it’s time for Jay and I to celebrate some with our families. Have a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

P.S. I can’t wait to see my “little” brother again.

Tammie Gilchrist - Thanks so much for getting back to my email before leaving on your vacation – that was very kind of you 🙂

And I did managed to find the F.A.Q. in your blog and read up on the canon lens choice of yours. Very nice!
